  • Well That Was Fun.........Not

DD's #2 and #3 left early Monday morning to drive 1 1/2 hours to babysit seven children for four days.  Got that?  I know......do the math.  Anyways, after the parents left, they settled in to running the household, managing lunch, putting everyone down for naps and quiet time, supervising PlayDoh® time, preparing dinner and getting them all ready for and tucked into bed.  *whew*

Then the fun began.  For a detailed description, go here.  What this did to my Tuesday was, well, interesting.  My plan was to have DD#1 and the cutest grandson ever (more on that later) over for their usual Tuesday visit.  Then baby sister was going to go home with them to have dinner and hang around until I picked her up later on (after going on an outing that required her absence).  So.   First I got a phone call at 6:45 in the morning.  It was  DD#3 informing me of DD#2's infirmities.  Oh dear.     I got an update call at 9:00, letting me know that they will soon be on their way back home.  Fair enough.  On to Plan B.  Baby sister can still go to DD#1's, I'll just have to let her know about DD#2's illness and maybe they shouldn't come over.........riiiiiiiiiing.

That was  DD#1 informing me that the cutest grandson ever was ill.......very ill.  As in ill-like-his-aunt ill.    Fever included.  Hmmmmmmm, now what?  On to Plan C.  We put our heads together and decided that her mum-in-law, a good friend of mine and her next door neighbor, probably wouldn't mind feeding baby sister dinner while I go on my outing.  So I called her to see if that would work.  Sure!  That would be fine!  I breathed a sigh of relief and went on with my day.........riiiiiiiiiing.

That was DD#1's mum-in-law's daughter, informing me that her mum was very ill, and her dad and grandfather were feeling the beginning pangs of this disease, as well.  Are you keeping up with this story?  I know, it's crazy.

Meanwhile, DD#2 had been asleep on the couch, and DD#3 was napping in her room, when baby sister informed me after taking a bite of her sandwich that her tummy hurt her.........really bad.  Oh, dear.    On to plan D.   Baby sister would stay home and a semi-rested DD#3 would take care of her, feeding her yogurt and ginger ale and praying there were no explosions, while DD#2 continued to rest and pray that she had no further explosions.    Wait a minute.  DH wasn't figured into the equation.  On to Plan E.

I had been calling him periodically throughout the day, trying to keep him abreast of each development.  So I called him one more time, letting him know that coming home was probably not a great idea, but I'd have to pick him up earlier than planned and could he do that?  Thankfully, he could.  We ended up having a delightful evening of shopping and dinner here.  I dropped him back off at work so he could pick up his car; and then stopped by the grocery store to stock up on ginger ale and yogurt.  Upon arriving home, I found DD#2 limp with a fever and still, well, exploding.    DD#2 was exhausted and went promptly to bed, and I put baby sister to bed.  Thinking I was probably tired myself (it was after 10:00 by now), I made DH's lunch for the next day, tidied up the kitchen, folded and put away all of the towels I had laundered and put myself to bed........where I lay, wide awake, until about 2:30 a.m.  Random thoughts of the days' events bounced around in my tired brain, and I finally got up, read for awhile, emptied the dishwasher, listened at various bedroom doors for further evidence of explosions (none ), went back to bed and finally fell asleep at about 4:30.     Oy.

Thankfully, I was able to sleep in a little this morning.  I also resisted the urge to take a nap, wanting to sleep well
    tonight.  I hope it works.

Oh, and about the cutest grandson ever?  He's going to be a big brother in about 7 1/2 months!
